Dr. William F. Pickard PhotoThe Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History wants to send our deepest condolences to the circle of beloved family and friends of Dr. William F. Pickard.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of a longtime friend and supporter of the museum. His incredible generosity, and visionary leadership had an invaluable impact on our institution. Dr. Pickard was an entrepreneur and philanthropist, and the founder of the Global Automotive Alliance (GAA) Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management company.

He was also the co-managing partner of MGM Grand Detroit Casino and the co-owner of five Black-owned newspapers, including The Michigan Chronicle. In addition to The Wright Museum, his philanthropic work impacted numerous institutions in Detroit and around the country.

His presence will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on and have a lasting impact on future generations.
