Divine Nine Membership Drive

The Program 

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History (The Wright) will hold its fourth annual Divine Nine Competitive Membership drive in the hope of creating stronger connections to individuals and organizations closely linked in the legacy of struggle and achievement that defines the Black experience. We will encourage the support of The Wright through investing in annual membership, especially our Divine 9 membership programs which allow access to more than 1,200 other museums, botanical gardens, science centers, zoos, and other institutions.

Dates

From November 1st through December 31, 2025. The winning fraternity or sorority will be announced at The Wright’s MLK Day Celebration on Monday, January 19, 2026.  

Grand Prize & Announcement

This year, we will offer a grand prize of a complimentary* rental of The Wright’s iconic Ford Freedom Rotunda – to two (2) winning organizations; one fraternity and one sorority. The winning organization will be announced during our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration at The Wright on January 19, 2026.

Judging Criteria

The NPHC organization with the most points, as a percentage of their national membership, will win a free rental of the rotunda at The Charles H Wright Museum of African American History.  

Point values are assigned based on memberships generated and related Divine Nine merchandise sold from the Museum store & online. Those accumulated points are then weighted against its national organization’s overall membership and assigned a percentage. The top fraternity and sorority with the highest percentages will win. The chapters within those national organization that generate the most points will each be awarded a complimentary rental of the Ford Freedom Rotunda at The Wright. 

The Metro Detroit NPHC will assist as an independent body. 

Point Values: 

• 5 Points = for each Divine Nine individual or Divine Nine family memberships
• 2 Points = for each Family and Individual membership
• 1 Point = for each College Student or Senior (62+) membership

About the Divine Nine Membership  

It is an EXCLUSIVE membership for Divine 9 members nationwide. Choose from two options … National Divine Nine Individual ($125) or Family ($150) membership packages. These packages come with all the benefits of our Contributor Level membership. 

• Free unlimited admission for one adult at the Individual Level or two adults and up to four children under the age of 18 for the Family Level;
• Free Admission to more than 1,200 art museums and galleries, historical museums and societies, botanical gardens, children’s museums, and zoos across North America.  
• Museum Store discounts, invitations to members event, and other member perks 

How to Participate 

We have a brand-new point system to make it easier to participate at all levels: 

• Visit www.thewright.org/membership to select your membership level to earn your chapter’s fraternity or sorority points.
• 5 Points for Divine Nine memberships, 2 Points for Family and Individual memberships, and 1 Point for all Senior and College Student memberships
