Bill Smith: The Jeweler

Bill Smith: The Jeweler

July 9, 2026 - December 6, 2026

Bill Smith: The Jeweler features the innovative craftsmanship, metal smithing, and one-of-a-kind jewelry of William F. “Bill” Smith.

Smith came from humble beginnings in Madison, Indiana, and rose to become a successful designer of fine and costume jewelry in New York City. His pieces adorned socialites, actresses and models; he also worked with fashion designers to create exclusive accessories for their clothing collections. To distinguish himself, he often signed his work as “Bill Smith, t.j.” which stood for “The Jeweler.”

This exhibition is on loan courtesy of the JeUerson County Historical Society and JoAnne M. Spiller collections.
