Description
Elemental: DJs and Jitmasters is a high energy celebration of Detroit hip hop in its purest form. This Third Thursday experience centers the city’s foundational elements, the turntables and the dance floor, bringing together sound, movement, and lyrical expression under one roof.
Headlining the evening is DJ Invisible, longtime collaborator of Xzibit, setting the tone with a dynamic mix of classic and contemporary Detroit sounds. The night comes alive through the presence of jitmasters, honoring the jit as a distinctly Detroit dance tradition passed down through generations and rooted in rhythm, precision, and community.
Adding to the evening is special guest Miz Korona, a formidable voice in Detroit hip hop whose legacy includes her appearance alongside Eminem in the film 8 Mile. Her presence brings lyrical depth and authenticity to a night grounded in the city’s creative power.
Expect deep bass, intricate footwork, sharp lyricism, and a bold celebration of Detroit’s lasting influence on global Hip Hop culture.

From the soulfulness of jazz and the power of spoken word to modern Hip Hop and R&B sounds, each performance transforms the museum into a vibrant gathering place. Connect with curators, artists, and special guests who bring the stories behind the arts to life. Each month brings a new program and featured artists.
