Black History Month Educator Workshop

Educators are invited to join us for the 2026 Black History Month Educator Workshop, a full-day professional development experience hosted by the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in partnership with the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Saturday, February 7 | 10:00 AM–3:00 PM

Free for Educators  |   Register here

The day begins at the DIA with an Africana field trip preview and a look at teaching resources designed to support classroom learning connected to the Reimagined African American Art galleries.

After lunch, participants will walk to The Wright for an immersive exploration of the life, mission, and vision of Dr. Charles H. Wright.

At The Wright, educators will discuss how passion shapes instruction, engages students, and connects learning to real-world experiences. Participants will also take a close look at the I, Charles exhibition to uncover meaningful cross-curricular lessons that can be adapted across grade levels and subject areas.

All Educators are welcome. 4 SCECHs are pending approval.
