In conjunction with Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr.’s latest PBS documentary series, “Black and Jewish America: An Interwoven History,” Detroit PBS is hosting a special event to explore the issues it raises from a uniquely Detroit perspective. A screening of film highlights will be followed by a panel discussion with eminent local historians and community leaders.

Please note that Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr will not be in attendance for this event.

The panel will consist of:

•    Moderator: Angelique Power, president and CEO of the Skillman Foundation

•    Ken Coleman, journalist and author, eminent historian of Black life in Detroit

•    Catherine Cangany, scholar and historian, CEO of Jewish Historical Society of Michigan

•    Rev. Aramis Hinds, Lead Pastor of Breakers Covenant Church International, and member of Detroit PBS Black Church in Detroit Advisory Committee

•    Rabbi Ariana Silverman of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue, Detroit’s last freestanding synagogue
