The Charles H. Wright Museum Proudly Presents "The Wright Conversations" and "The Wright Performances" Dynamic Talks and Transformative Performances Coming to Detroit

Detroit, MI (September 2025) - The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is proud to announce the return of The Wright Conversations and The Wright Performances, two signature series curated to spark dialogue, celebrate creativity, and honor African American cultural contributions.

Every few weeks, The Wright invites leading minds from literature, law, music, dance, and other disciplines to engage audiences through thoughtful discussion and powerful performance. This season’s lineup features National Book Award-winning authors, acclaimed environmental advocates, innovative cartoonists, and world-renowned artists and chefs—offering audiences unique access to today’s most transformative voices.

The Wright Performances
Presented in The Wright museums newly renovated, intimate 284-seat theater, this multidisciplinary series showcases celebrated local and national talent. These performances align with the museum’s exhibitions and programming to deliver a holistic exploration of the African American experience through the arts.

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History was founded in 1965 and is in the heart of Midtown Detroit’s Cultural Center. The Wright Museum’s mission is to open minds and change lives through the exploration and celebration of African American history and culture. And Still We Rise: Our Journey Through African American History and Culture — the museum’s 22,000 square foot, immersive core exhibit — is one of the largest, single exhibitions surveying the history of African Americans. The Wright Museum houses over 35,000 artifacts and archival materials and offers more than 300 public programs and events annually.
