In 2025, a federal executive order attacked not just what we teach, but the very existence of Black history institutions. It labeled our history “divisive,” and sought to erase content on slavery, systemic racism, Indigenous displacement, gender, and other truths.

This isn’t just policy—it’s a warning. In a moment when DEI and inclusion are being stripped from classrooms, corporations, and communities, the survival of institutions like The Wright depends not on politics, but on people.

We thrive on individual giving and the power of collective membership. When thousands of voices stand together, no order, no shifting political wind, can erase our story.

That’s why we launched the 25K Cultural Preservation Challenge.
