4th Annual divine nine membership drive - complete rules
1. Eligibility:
The 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive is open to chapters and members of Divine Nine Organizations. The Divine Nine organizations are defined as: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. (AΦA), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. (AKA), Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity (KAΨ), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (ΔΣΘ), Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. (ΩΨΦ), Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity (ΦBΣ), Zeta Phi Beta Sorority (ZΦB), Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority (ΣΓΡ), and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity (ΙΦΘ).
Entrants must be 18 years of age or older and a member of one of these organizations as of their date of entry in this promotion to qualify. This membership drive is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Participants in this competition understand and agree that a non-member is not allowed to purchase, own or possess such items designated for Divine Nine organizations except when purchasing such items for the benefit of an NPHC member.
2. Sponsorship:
The sponsor is the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, located at 315 E Warren Ave, Detroit, MI 48201. The museum will conduct the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive substantially as described in these Official Rules.
3. Agreement to Rules:
By entering the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive, the entrant ("You") agrees to abide by the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History's Official Rules and decisions, which are fully and unconditionally binding in all respects. The museum reserves the right to refuse, withdraw, or disqualify any entry at any time at the museum's sole discretion. By entering this membership drive, you represent and warrant that you are eligible to participate based on eligibility requirements explained in the Official Rules. You also agree to accept the decisions of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History as final and binding as it relates to the content of the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive.
4. 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive Entry Period:
This promotion begins on November 1, 2023 at 12:00 AM eastern standard time and ends on December 31, 2023 at 11:59PM eastern standard time. To be eligible for the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive, entries must be received within the specified Entry Period.
5. How to Enter:
Eligible entrants can enter the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive by submitting a membership application via the online form provided at the http://thewright.org. As a participant, your entry must fully meet all membership drive requirements, as specified in the Official Rules, to be eligible to purchase a Divine Nine membership. Incomplete applications or those that do not adhere to the Official Rules or specifications will be disqualified at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History's sole discretion.
During the competition period, the purchase, renewal, or gifting of select memberships will earn points for each Divine Nine organization. The Point values are assigned based on memberships generated and related Divine Nine merchandise sold online.
The Point Values include:
5 Points: All Divine Nine memberships
2 Points: Family membership
2 Points: Individual membership
1 Points: College Student membership
1 Points: Senior (62+) membership
1 Points: Purchase a THIS IS OUR MUSEUM shirt
Those accumulated points are then weighted against the national organization’s overall membership and assigned a percentage. The top fraternity and sorority with the highest percentage will both win the competition, and the chapters generating the most points for their winning organizations will each be awarded the grand prize, a complimentary rental of the Ford Freedom Rotunda at The Wright.
The Metro Detroit NPHC will assist in coordination and communications as an independent, impartial body.
6. Prizes:
The two (2) winners of the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive will each be awarded one (1) complimentary rental* of the Ford Freedom Rotunda. The winner will be announced on Monday, January 15, 2024 – MLK Day 2024.
Must claim grand prize and book by February 28, 2024, 4:59 pm Eastern Time, or subject to prize forfeiture. Reservations are valid from March 1, 2024, through July 31, 2024, pending availability. Mondays, Tuesdays, and federally observed holidays are blacked out from booking. Other exclusions & restrictions may apply. The grand prize complimentary rental is valued at $5,000.00 USD and is non-transferable. No cash prizes will be awarded. The Winners, upon acceptance, are solely responsible for all expenses related to their event, beyond the complimentary rental fee. This includes but is not limited to audio/video support, catering, equipment and furniture rentals, décor, linens, marketing, staffing, security, and other event related expenses.
Complimentary rental includes up to four (4) hours of event time with an additional two (2) hours for pre-event set-up and one (1) hour for post-event and tear down. The grand prize also includes a limited amount of available tables and chairs. The winning organization is responsible for a $500 refundable cleaning deposit. Additionally, the winning organization will be responsible for securing any additional furniture, audio/visual technician(s), security, bartenders, cashiers, or any additional staffing needs, along with any overtime charges for events exceeding four (4) hours.
By accepting the grand prize, the selected Winners grants permission for the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History to use their name and membership status for promotional purposes.
7. Odds:
The total number of eligible applications received determines the odds of winning membership.
8. Selection and Notification of Winner:
The Winner(s) will be selected based on the criteria set by each Divine Nine organization under the supervision of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. The museum will notify the Winner(s) by telephone and email within three (3) days following Winner selection. The museum is not responsible for, nor shall have no liability for Winner’s failure to receive notifications due to email security settings that may cause notifications to be marked as spam or junk email. Nor shall the museum be liable for the Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information.
9. Rights Granted by You:
By submitting a membership application into the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive, you understand and agree that the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Divine Nine organizations shall have the right to use your application, name, photo, portrait, voice, likeness, image, statements about the membership drive, and your biographical information for news, publicity, advertising, promotional purposes, trade, information, and public relations without any further notice, review, consent, compensation, or remuneration.
10. Terms & Conditions:
In its sole discretion, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History reserves the right to modify, suspend, cancel, or terminate the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive should non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other causes beyond the museum's control impact or corrupt the fairness, proper conduct, or administration of the membership drive.
11. Limitation of Liability:
Your entry into the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive constitutes your agreement to release and hold harmless the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and its subsidiaries, representatives, affiliates, partners, advertising and promotion agencies, employees, and officers against and from any and all claims, liability, litigation, loss, or damages that may occur, directly or indirectly from participation in the membership drive and/or the acceptance of membership.
12. Disputes:
This membership drive is governed by the laws of the United States and the state of Michigan, without respect to conflict of law doctrines. Any disputes shall be individually resolved exclusively before a court located in Michigan without resorting to any form of class action.
13. Privacy Policy:
Information submitted with a membership application is subject to the Privacy Policy stated on the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History website.
14. Winners List:
You may obtain a list of the Winner's names by sending your request via email to membership@thewright.org OR by mail to: Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, 315 E Warren Ave, Detroit, MI 48201, Attn: Membership Drive. Requests must be postmarked or timestamped no later than January 31, 2024.
15. Social Media Channel-Specific Rules:
This membership drive is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with any specific social media channel.
16. Agreement:
By participating, you affirmatively accept and agree to all these Official Rules.
These official rules govern the 2023 Divine Nine Competitive Membership Drive, and all participants are expected to adhere to them.
