Join PBS Books and scholar Martha Jones, Ph.D., for a live discussion of her upcoming book: Vanguard: How Black Women Broke Barriers, Won the Vote, and Insisted on Equality for All on the PBS Books Facebook page. Adding to the evening is a panel of amazing Trailblazers, featuring poet Evie Shockley and novelist Tayari Jones.

Offered in collaboration with hundreds of libraries, cultural institutions, and local PBS stations, this event is part of PBS Books' Trailblazing Women Virtual Series, which highlights amazing stories of American women to mark the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. By recognizinhg these “Trailblazers,” PBS Books commemorates the fight for women’s suffrage in the U.S. and the stories of modern women, who continue to shatter the glass ceiling and transform modern history.
