Reflections of Beauty: The Madam C.J. Walker Story


"Reflections of Beauty" is a multimedia musical storytelling of the life of ground-breaking entrepreneur, activist, and inventor Madam C.J. Walker.

Based on "On Her Own Ground" the biography written by Madam Walker's great-great granddaughter A'lelia Bundles, the piece is also narrated by A'lelia and features music important to Ms. Walker's journey from an orphan in the deep south to a hardworking washerwoman in St. Louis to a self-made millionaire, philanthropist, and activist.

Beginning with a musical performance by Grammy-nominated ensemble PUBLIQuartet, the afternoon continues with an interactive Q&A session with A’lelia Bundles, the great-great granddaughter of Madam C.J. Walker.
