Queen Voices - Camilla Rice | Lecture Series
QUEEN Voices is an engaging lecture series featuring dynamic women in conjunction with the exhibition QUEEN: From the Collection of CCH Pounder. This lecture series is important because it reinforces the themes of QUEEN: powerful women of the African diaspora, diverse feminism, Afrofuturism, and beauty.
The first conversation is with Camilla Rice. After struggling to find effective and reasonably priced products to treat her son's eczema, Camilla began to make homemade soaps and lotions for his sensitive skin. Her successful online business has grown into a brick-and-mortar shop featuring luxury organic and vegan skin care, all while she maintains her day job as an engineer at Ford Motor Company.
The Wright will host additional lectures in this series on March 11 and March 29 with author Bridgett M. Davis and fashion designer Tracy Reese. The entire series will be moderated by Rosalyn Karamoko, founder and CEO of Détroit Is The New Black.
