Camp Africa 2021: Hidden Figures of the Diaspora
Join the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History as we proudly present Camp Africa 2021: Hidden Figures of the Diaspora! Camp Africa is a week-long experience designed for youth ages 7-12 to explore and celebrate the accomplishments of individuals in a variety of fields and careers across the African Diaspora.
This year’s camp theme, Hidden Figures of the Diaspora, will focus on African Americans who pioneered innovations within the fields known as S.T.E.A.M: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Each week, we will highlight men and women today and throughout history who brought attention to these fields through their amazing work.
Participants will watch exciting videos of discovery, take part in short talks with actual scientists, and get to make real experiments, such as how to see hidden colors or launch a bottle rocket!
The cost of Camp Africa is $5 per household. Parents may register their campers for one of five weeks. Early registrants will receive an exclusive take-home kit worth $40, packed with fun items tied to African American history.
REGISTER FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING WEEKS:
- Week 1: Monday, July 5
- Week 2: Monday, July 12
- Week 3: Monday, July 19
- Week 4: Monday, July 26
- Week 5: Monday, August 2
There are 100 spots available for each week. The first forty (40) campers that register and pay the $5 fee are eligible for the take-home kits. Registration and payment will be available on the Wright Museum’s main website only, at www.thewright.org.
